What if...
we could determine the most optimal and personal diet based on your DNA and genetic markers? Would we all became healthier or the opposite? Could we even produce, grow or engineer our food with all the nutrition we need? What would happen if it would be possible to track whether you are following this diet or not? Would that mean that insurance companies, governmental agencies or even any small businesses could prohibit certain privileges or activities, like traveling, extreme sports or going out for dinner. We would live in a world that is suppose to be for your benefits, but how free will we be when everything is controlled for us?
Reading this article piqued my interest about using DNA to determine a perfect personal diet.
It made me wonder if everyone want to know what's best for their health and if people actually will follow this personalized diet.

CRISPR/Cas9 is a tool that can be used in genome editing and also be used to alter any kind of food.
What if we could alter food in such a way that the nutrition is optimal for each individual?
What would be the consequences of using genome edited food for our health?
We already eating Genetic Modified Organisms (GMO), such as corn, tomatoes and carrots.
However people are still nervous about the idea of eating plants/animals whose DNA has been altered.
Will we ever live in a society where our food is designed in the laboratory?
It is already possible to grow meat in the laboratory. So theoretically we would be able to design any kind of food.
Despite a worried view of society about eating lab-grown food, isn't it just a matter of time? We are not eating in the same way as 100 years ago.
If we can design our food and let it grow in the laboratory, does that also mean we can alter the taste in a personal way?
How will our emotional attachment to food change when we would only eat lab-grown food?
Taste is basically just a biological and physical process based on electric current.
Can this process be used in altering taste for an individual?
Do we then need physical food? Or is the idea of eating something enough?
Since taste is a biological process based on individual composition of receptors that perceive a certain flavor, taste can be determined by our DNA.
We could not only determine a personal diet, but also a preference in taste within this diet. Or even grow your ideal food (nutrition and flavor wise).
Insurance companies are based on risks. If you are a potential high risk for them, they are more likely to ask for higher insurance premium.
What will happen if you wouldn't follow your personal designed diet and gain higher risks in developing certain diseases or injuries?
What if the government can control your diet?
And what will happen if you don't follow this diet?
What if other companies/businesses can see how strict you are with your diet?
"Harmless" activities, like exercising or traveling could become a higher risk for people who aren't following their personal diet. How far do we have to go?
